Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was the biggest beneficiary. It was founded by Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and his wife Melinda. They were focused on world health and education. Bill and Buffett have been friends since the beginning of the 1990s. The three Buffett children as well as the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation (named after his wife) were among the foundations that were the recipients of donations. They focused on reproductive rights for women, funded scholarships for college students, and also several other charities. The Giving Pledge was an invitation for wealthy individuals to contribute a substantial portion of their money to charitable causes established by Buffett and Gates in 2010.
